I have to keep reminding myself that I am in Africa.

Cape Town is very different from the Africa you would think of.

It is amazing.

"I'm suing a cigarette company because on the package they promised to kill me, and yet here I am."

I sat in a bathroom and talked to the only other person that loves him as much and cried.

Bush: "I talked about my desire to promote institutional change in parts of the world, like Iraq where there's a free press and free religion, and I told him that a lot of people in our country would hope that Russia would do the same."

Putin: "We certainly would not want to have the same kind of democracy that they have in Iraq, quite honestly."

I like Jesse. [08 Jul 2006|01:14pm]
soooo the other day was one of the worst I have had in a long time. I had to wake up at 7:30 to get tests done, I hadn't eaten and had to get blood drawn and well I didn't do too well. And the tech couldn't find my veins so I look like a bruised heroin addict. THEN work was insanely busy, and on our way to meet Kathryn for lunch, Jesse's tire blew out. So then we had to figure that all out. We left with Kathryn and got food. Then the realtor called to say someone was showing the house, we got there to clean it and realized we had left the house key all the way across town at Abilene Regional. So I had a meltdown and we went and got the key. So then back to work, where I broke the copier. Finally it was over and I walked out to the parking lot and Jesse was standing there with a bouquet of lilies. SO basically he is the best ever.

this is my lame livejournal rant [16 Jun 2006|08:53pm]
question.

why, talk to me about how you want to hang out and then when we both get into town not call me. not once. and tell me you cannot hang out with me because you want to spend time with your family and then hang out with other friends.

why, complain about how no one wants to hang out with you and then blow off the people that do.

why, leave me sitting in a parking lot for 40 minutes without explanation when you wanted to do something in the first place.

you guys are making it easy to leave abilene for good.

today amazed me, the amount of people that walked out and showed their support, its amazing.

That kind of unified belief in something they believe is right is why I have not lost all hope.

So Jess and I just found and watched Stephen Colbert's speech at the White House Correspondant's Dinner.

Colbert= my new political hero

Anyone who can stand up there, in front of a room full of republicans and insult the hell out of them is awesome.

Anyone who can stand 10 feet away from the president and put on a video asking why we are in Iraq 10 times is a supreme human being.

Helen Thomas kicks ass too, and I hope I can be that awesome as an 86 year old.

To anyone who has not yet seen it, watch it.

edit: At first when Bush did the little two Bush making fun of himself, I was impressed, then he started joking about Dick Cheney being drunk, it seems that they are taking themselves too lightly....it was...interesting, and disturbing.

BERLIN (Reuters) - A cat saved the life of a newborn baby abandoned on the doorstep of a Cologne house in the middle of the night by meowing loudly until someone woke up, a police spokesman said on Saturday.

"The cat is a hero," Cologne police spokesman Uwe Beier said. "Its loud meowing got the attention of the homeowner and saved the baby from suffering life-threatening hypothermia. The homeowner opened door to see why the cat was making so much noise and discovered the newborn."

Beier said the boy was taken to hospital at 5 a.m. on Thursday, when overnight temperatures fell toward zero, and had suffered only mild hypothermia. He said there was no indication of what happened to the boy's mother.
